Emailing Your Student's Teacher

Every student on Primer has their own named teacher and a dedicated email address just for them, found on the student's Profile tab. It's a direct way to ask how things are actually going, request a curriculum or pacing change, or ask for extra practice on something specific, without having to know which setting to go change yourself.

Where to find it

Profile tab showing Your Student's Teacher card with name and email address

Open a student's Profile tab. Near the top, under Your Student's Teacher, you'll see the teacher's name and their email address, in the form firstinitiallastname@teacher.primer.institute.

Close-up of the teacher card with Copy Email Address button

This address is unique to that student. If your family has more than one student, each of them has their own teacher and their own address, since a change that's right for one student may not fit another. Click Copy Email Address to grab it, then email it directly from whatever mail app or address you normally use.

What to use it for

Anything that needs a real answer rather than a setting flip. A few examples:

  • "How is she actually doing with reading comprehension? The dashboard says her mastery is low but she seems confident."
  • "Can we slow down on fractions for a couple of weeks? He's rushing through and missing the concept."
  • "Could you send over a few extra worksheets on consonant clusters? She wants more practice than what's built in."
  • "We're going on vacation for two weeks. What should we expect when we come back?"

There's no ticket to file and no form to fill out. Just write the email the way you'd write it to any teacher.

How fast you'll hear back

You'll get a thoughtful reply within a few minutes. Primer's teachers are AI, not a queue of human staff waiting on email, which is exactly why the turnaround is so fast: there's no one to be out sick, backed up, or off for the weekend.

Changing the teacher's name

If the assigned name doesn't feel like the right fit, click Regenerate Name on the same card to get a new one. The email address updates to match.

How this differs from other help in Primer

Primer actually gives you a few different ways to adjust or ask about a student's learning, and each one fits a different kind of question:

  • Emailing the teacher (this article): open-ended questions and requests that need judgment, like the examples above.
  • The "Tell me how I can help" box at the top of every student page: for when you already know exactly what setting you want changed, and just don't want to hunt for it. Type it in plain language and Primer maps it to the right setting instantly.
  • "Describe a change to Lily's intake" on the Profile tab: for updating the intake record itself, like a new device restriction or a newly noticed frustration point.
  • The in-lesson Need Help? button: for a student, in the middle of a lesson, who's stuck on a word or a specific question right then. See Inside a Lesson: A Full Walkthrough.
  • Support (the chat bubble icon, or primer.institute/support): for account, billing, or technical issues, not learning questions.

When in doubt, email the teacher. If it turns out to be a billing or technical question instead, they'll point you the right way.
