Just parents, like you.

Primer Institute was founded by two brothers and a sister who got frustrated with an education system that was failing our children. So we stopped waiting for it to change and started building something better.

How it started

It started with one kid.

Primer began as a set of lessons for one of our sons. He's on the autism spectrum, and there were certain skills he kept struggling with.

Our first attempt was homemade. Every school day, we used ChatGPT and OpenClaw to build him a lesson packet: a few pages on the skills he needed, adjusted a little each morning based on how the day before had gone. It was a good start, and it taught us two things.

First, we had no feedback loop. Beyond what we could see sitting next to him, we had no real way to know how he was doing or when he was ready to move on. Second, he responded differently when the work came from a computer instead of from his parents. Fewer tears, less reluctance, less of the emotional tug-of-war that comes with Mom or Dad being the teacher.

The usual materials weren't reaching him, and a daily packet only got us partway. So we built lessons around him: his pace, his interests, the exact skills he needed to practice, as many times and as many ways as it took.

It worked. And the more we built, the more obvious it became that he wasn't the exception. Every student learns best when the lesson fits them, and almost none of them get that.

There are no tech giants or investment firms behind Primer. It's just us: parents, just like everyone else, who want something better for our kids and believe other families deserve it too. We answer to the parents and students who use Primer, and nobody else.
