This week
Just Parents, Like You
Primer Institute was founded by two brothers and a sister who got frustrated with an education system that was failing our children. We are not a tech company that decided to try education. We are parents who wanted our kids to succeed, the same as you.
This week we want to tell you how Primer started, what we are building, and how you can help build it with us.

How it started
It started with one kid
Primer began as a set of lessons for one of our sons. He’s on the autism spectrum, and there were certain skills he kept struggling with. Every school day we built him a lesson packet by hand, adjusted each morning based on how the day before had gone.
Two things stood out. We had no real way to know when he was ready to move on. And he responded differently when the work came from a computer instead of from Mom or Dad: fewer tears, less reluctance, less of the tug-of-war that comes with a parent being the teacher.
A daily packet only got us partway. So we started building what would become Primer, with lessons built around him: his pace, his interests, the exact skills he needed, as many times and as many ways as it took. Software that could track how he was doing and adjust the next lesson on its own. It worked. And the more we built, the clearer it became that he wasn’t the exception. Every student learns best when the lesson fits them.

Who’s behind this
No big tech. No big money.
There are no tech giants or investment firms behind Primer. It’s just us: parents, just like everyone else, who want something better for our kids and believe other families deserve it too. We answer to the parents and students who use Primer, and nobody else.
|
|
Your voice matters
Tell us what your student needs. We’ll build it.
Some of the features parents use most in Primer exist because a parent asked for them. That’s how we want it to work.

The big edtech platforms
Your request goes into a queue
Feedback comes back as a ticket number.
Feature requests land on a roadmap you never see.
Turnaround is months, if it happens at all.

|
Primer
Your request goes to the people who build it
Feedback gets a reply from a real person, usually the one who acts on it.
Feature requests are read by the founders.
Turnaround is days or weeks, and we tell you when it ships.
