A Festival of Lights Lesson, Free for Everyone
As the days get shorter, families around the world light lamps, candles, and lanterns. Our new Festival of Lights lesson looks at Diwali and other winter light festivals, with a simple science hook about why winter days are shorter. It’s open to everyone, no subscription needed.

Your family, your worldview
Lessons taught from the worldview you choose
This lesson shows several traditions side by side. In your student’s own Primer account, you can go further. Parents can set up each student with a worldview, such as Christian, Hindu, or Jewish, and Primer teaches from that point of view.
The same topic can then be framed around what your family believes and celebrates. For a lesson on winter light festivals, that might look like this:
Christian
Advent candles, the Christmas star, and Christ as the light of the world.
Jewish
Hanukkah, the menorah, and the story of the oil that lasted eight nights.
| |
Hindu
Diwali, rows of diya lamps, and the triumph of light over darkness.
And more
Choose the worldview that fits your family. You can change it any time.
Prefer to leave worldview out? Primer is secular by default. Unless you choose a worldview, your student’s lessons stay neutral.
